How does translation work?

Text is extracted from the PDF using PDF.js, then sent to the Google Translate API in chunks. The translated text is returned and displayed in your browser.

Is there a text limit?

Translation is limited to the first ~15,000 characters of the PDF to keep processing fast. For very long documents, translate the most important sections.

Can it translate scanned PDFs?

No. Scanned PDFs contain images, not text. Use PDF OCR first to extract the text, then translate it using the AI Language Translator tool.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

The PDF itself stays in your browser. Only the extracted text is sent to the Google Translate API for translation — the same API used by Google Translate on the web.
